Migrants are not detained for the purpose of punishment. They are processed and when they are deemed inadmissible or here illegally, they are placed into immigration court. All in all, it was a fun day of hiking and I can’t wait to go back!Why would an immigrant be detained by a law enforcement agency?įirst of all, when migrants are apprehended by federal agents, they are not detained in a jail. We hiked all the way to the bottom of the canyon and then up through the slot canyons. The walk up to the mesa top was very challenging but it was well worth it! Then we headed down the back side of the mesa for an awesome hike. We spent an afternoon touring in the canyon and it was a very relaxing way to spend our first day in AZ. This year we camped out at Antelope Canyon for a couple nights and it was a blast! We had an amazing view of the canyon from one of the four camp sites and the views from the walk-up on the North Rim were great as well. It is that time of year again, when my friends and I try and have a bunch of fun.
